Definition Absent Very Mild Mild Moderate Severe
Scavenges for food or other items anytime
    Never scavenges at any time or in any location
 Scavenges in a few isolated instances but stops with a verbal cue and is easy to control.

    Is not persistent.
 Occasionally scavenges but stops with a handler intervention and/or support.

    Is not persistent.
 Frequently scavenges and requires a high level of effort to redirect the behavior but stops eventually with handler intervention and/or support.

    Is persistent.
 Routinely scavenges and often returns to scavenging after handler intervention and/or support.

    Is persistent.
