- Organizations with a well developed database may choose to maintain a separate database at your school and update the dog data periodically to calculated EBVs
- Although this approach is much more complex, it is possible and is handled on a case by case basis. Key points for this approach are as follows:
- The IWDR dogID needs to be stored in your school’s database and your dog key ID field must be in IWDR
- Only dogs owned by your organization can have data updated electronically through the API
- Ancestors must be entered into IWDR to complete the pedigree
- There are more details and steps related to this type of use of IWDR. Only consider this if you have a robust IT department
