11.1 – People and Organizations with Relationships to Your Dogs

  • “Public” people and organizations
    1. Any user can view, enter and edit: Breeders, People or Organizations that own dogs, Veterinarians, Kennel Clubs, Diagnostic Laboratories, etc.
    2. Type the name in the field and select the matching name. If you only know the last name or part of the name, type % before and after
    3. To avoid entering duplicates, before you click ADD New, please verify the record is not in IWDR by typing in the blank field % before and after the last name or organization name. Example: If you are looking for Companion Animal Hospital but do not find it, type %Companion%
    4. Two ways to enter new records if the record is not in the IWDR
      • ADD NEW hyperlink to the right of a field. The form that pops up is specialized for the type of entry you are making
      • Menu Item People/Organizations>Public People> ADD NEW. This is a more generic form requiring you to enter if the person is a breeder, the type of organization etc
    5. Editing “Public” People and Organizations can only be done through Menu Item People/Organizations>Public People> EDIT
  • “Private” people
    1. Only users associated with your organization or group can view, enter and edit private people
    2. Both public people or organizations and your private people can be selected in fields where appropriate such as entering with whom your organization or group has a relationship
    3. Two ways to enter new records if the record is not in the IWDR
      • ADD NEW hyperlink to the right of a field. The form that pops up is specialized to enter private people
      • Menu Item People/Organizations>Private People> ADD NEW
    4. Editing “Private” People can only be done through Menu Item People/Organizations>Private People> EDIT
  • Relationships
    1. Enter relationships through MyDogs > Details tab Relationships
    2. When a new dog placement relationship (trainer, client, breeder foster, adopter) is entered, the end date of existing dog placement relationships that have no end date will be populated with the start date of the new relationship. The code will only end relationships that operationally precede the new relationship entered
    3. Edit relationship- click the pencil icon. Make edit and SAVE
    4. Search relationships- My Data > Relationships
      • Search by date ranges, types of relationships, by end date empty or not etc
    5. Export the selected relationship records by clicking More tab at the upper left and select Export.. Options for export are excel or word
